Murdered man was tortured
The autopsy on the body of murdered father of two Carlos Philip which was scheduled for yesterday was postponed to today. Phillip, 37, a courier at National Helicopter Services, was reported missing last Wednesday. Around 5 pm on Christmas Day, his nude body was discovered partially submerged in a Longdenville pond. When the body was fished out, it was discovered that Phillip’s throat was slit and his hands were tied behind his back. His mouth was also stuffed with cloth.
On Sunday, a party of officers led by Ag Sgt Ajith Persad went to Todd Station Road, Talparo, where they discovered the burnt out car belonging to the murdered man. Villagers of Talparo told Newsday that they saw strange men in the area on Christmas Day and they also saw smoke coming from the area where the car was burnt. Police officers are calling on members of the public who may have information on the murder of Phillip to contact the Chaguanas CID at 665-9958, Crime Stoppers or the Homicide Bureau. Investigators believe that Phillip may have been tortured before he was killed. Relatives insisted that he was not involved in drugs or any illicit activities. They are calling on the police to find the person or persons responsible for the gruesome murder. Wife of the murder victim Lisa Stoute Phillip described her husband as well loved by those who knew him. Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised.
