Murder suspect dies from poisoning

A GUYANESE national who stabbed  his common-law wife Parbatie Singh to death in Aranquez on Wednesday afternoon, is dead. Police report state that 25-year-old Roy Persad died at the Port-of- Spain General Hospital as a result of the poisonous substance he ingested shortly after he stabbed Singh to death.

Singh, a mother of three was stabbed to death by Persad following months of accusations that she was being unfaithful to him. Singh was said to have left the man, whom she had been living with for the past six months, and had recently returned to her family’s home in Aranguez. However, it is alleged when she left her home on Wednesday, Persad accosted her and dealt her several stab wounds about the body. She died on the spot. After Singh’s body was discovered by neighbours who heard the commotion, Persad was found near the apartment frothing from the mouth. He was rushed to the hospital where he died. Singh’s children are now in the care of relatives. Officers of the Barataria CID are investigating.
