Judge steps down from murder trial

JUSTICE Mark Mohammed yesterday disqualified himself from hearing the murder trial of Kenrick and Chandrouti London because he signed the indictment to charge the married couple when he was Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). He put the matter for the next available cause list.

Chandrouti, 28, and Kenrick, 38, are charged with murdering their infant son Daniel on a date unknown between January 31 and March 1, 1995.
Only Chandrouti was present when the matter was called in the San Fernando Third Criminal Assizes yesterday since husband Kenrick was not brought down from prison.  She was represented by attorney Learie Alleyne-Forte, while attorney Alexander Prince appeared on behalf of the State.
