Deaf/mute woman’s throat was slashed

AN AUTOPSY carried out yesterday on the decomposed body of 20-year-old deaf/mute woman Annasher Rangoo revealed she died from shock and haemorrhage after her throat had been slashed.

The autopsy was carried out by Forensic Pathologist Dr Hughvon des Vignes at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park in St James. Rangoo’s two sisters — Sharon and Sherry-Ann — officially identified the body and witnessed the autopsy. In a murder that shocked an already crime-weary nation, Rangoo’s bloated, decomposing corpse was discovered last Friday morning in a teak forest, mere walking distance from her Dow Village, South Oropouche home — five days after an intruder, armed with a cutlass, stormed the Rangoo house and unleashed a reign of terror. He chopped three women before abducting Annasher Rangoo. Police investigating the murder told Newsday they believe Rangoo was murdered shortly after she was abducted. Injured in the chopping spree were Rangoo’s mother Molly, sister Sharon and sister-in-law Cindy Rampersad. When Molly Rangoo was discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital, she immediately went into hiding. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made and Southern Division Homicide Bureau officers were continuing investigations. The Rangoo family are now making preparations for the funeral, which is expected sometime this week.
