Five held in drug raids
MEMBERS of South-Western Division Task Force carried out several raids over the weekend, and arrested five persons for drug-related offences. The suspects, aged between 22 to 46, were held in separate incidents with a total of 37 grammes of marijuana and seven grammes of cocaine.
Coordinated by Ag Insp Wells, led by Cpl Minors and including PCs Ramdass, Jones and other officers, the exercise began around 6 pm on Sunday and ended around 2 am yesterday. One of the suspects, a 44-year-old man, put up a struggle but was eventually subdued, arrested and charged with possession of seven grammes of cocaine and resisting arrest. Another man, 46, ran when he saw the police approaching, unaware that the officers had the area surrounded. He ended up running straight into a group of police officers and was held with 14 grammes of marijuana. A few hours later, a 24-year-old was found hiding behind a tank with 13 grammes of marijuana.
