Security guard shot in failed robbery
A Sentinel Security guard is now nursing gunshot wounds at Port-of-Spain General Hospital after being shot in a failed attempt to steal his gun at a Laventille gas station.
According to reports, at around 10 pm on Sunday, EC Ryan Reid, 24, of Upper Wharton Street, Laventille, was standing guard outside the National Petroleum Service Station at the corner of McAlister Street and Eastern Main Road, Laventille, when he was approached by three armed men. One of them approached Reid and demanded his gun. Reid refused and a struggle ensued. During the melee one of the gunmen shot Reid in the leg and the lower back and he fell to the ground. The men sped off in a waiting car without the gun. The injured man was rushed to the PoSGH where he was placed under police security because of fears that his attackers would come back.
