Teacher and daughter raped, robbed at home

A 46-year-old teacher and her 21-year-old daughter were raped and robbed at their Longdenville home yesterday. Reports revealed that around 6.45 pm on Monday, the woman was in her yard at home when she was confronted by a man armed with a gun. The gunman ordered her inside the house, tied her up and robbed her of $1,400, a quantity of jewelry and other valuables. He then cut the telephone lines. The 21-year-old daughter of the teacher, who had just alighted from a taxi, was forced into the house by another gunman. She was tied up and ordered into a bedroom. The two gunmen took turns raping the teacher while her daughter was raped by one of the two men. The two rapes took place in two separate bedrooms of the house.

After raping mother and daughter, the bandits took the keys for a Wingroad vehicle valued at $56,000 and fled the scene in the vehicle. A report was made to the Chaguanas Police Station and a party of officers led by Inspector Burt Raphael, Ag Sgt Ajith Persad and including Cpl Ruby Villafana and Detective Terrence Williams went to the scene and carried out enquiries. The two victims were examined by District Medical Officer Dr Ray Chowdary. Fingerprint experts lifted prints from the scene and two men ages 21 and 20 were detained for questioning. The suspects were later released. Police investigators told Newsday they are searching for two men responsible for a spate of robberies in Central. They said that arrests are imminent.
