Schoolgirl raped, kept captive for three days

POLICE are investigating reports that a 13-year-old girl was kept in captivity for three days at the home of a man who also raped her. Police are reportedly searching for a Moruga man who can assist them in their investigations. The victim told police that around 4 pm last Friday, she was walking along Samuel Cooper Trace, St Mary’s Village, when she saw a man whom she knew only by name. She said the man grabbed her hand and forced her into his nearby home.

The primary school student told police the man kept her in the house that night and the following day he raped her. On Monday, the man allowed her to leave the house and she made her way to her Moruga home and told worried relatives what happened. A report was subsequently made to the police, who took the child to the district medical centre where a DMO examined her and confirmed she had been assaulted. Police said they are also investigating why a missing person report was not made by the girl’s family when she failed to return home. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made and WPC Huggins of the St Mary’s Police Station is continuing investigations.
