'Pan Season' at Savannah
YESTERDAY was “pan season” at the Queen’s Park Savannah as 24 steelbands came out to play and ramajay at the 2004 Junior Steelband Finals.
While Febeau Government Primary School started off proceedings in the juniors category with Shadow’s “HornerMan,” it was Newtown Boys’ Pan Ensemble’s spirited rendition of Alvin Daniell’s “Pan Season” which reminded those present at the Savannah about one of the things that the Big Yard is renowned for at Carnival time. They were followed by St Margaret’s Boys’ Anglican with Iwer George/Bunji Garlin/ Denise Belfon’s “Big Three” while in the senior’s category, BpTT Renegades Youth Orchestra received a standing ovation from the North and Grand Stands for its rendition of De Fosto’s “War 2004.”
