Gangster executed by own gang member

Known gang member Darren Hadden George aka “Tank” was executed at a house on Pump Trace, East Dry River, Laventille yesterday morning in an internal gang war. Police believe that his death was meant to silence him from giving evidence in a Port-of-Spain court on Thursday against other gang members. George, 26, was shot dead around 7 am while getting ready to go out. According to reports, shortly after getting off his bed, George was washing his face when three men burst in and started firing shots. Four of the bullets hit him in his chest, head and hands.

Police were called in and found the man lying dead across the bed where he had stumbled. According to reports, George and another gang member fell out last year over a gun. The gun belonged to the gang member and George refused to hand it over. At that time George was shot in his leg. A report was made, three men were charged and several threats were sent by gang members to George. George, police said, had a long criminal history. Cpl Rowley is spearheading inquiries.
