Prince Andrew arrives today
PRINCE ANDREW, the Duke of York, arrives in Trinidad and Tobago today for a two-day official visit. The Duke is scheduled to arrive at Piarco International Airport at 11 am and will be the guest of honour at a special reception at the British High Commission’s offices in Port-of-Spain later in the evening. Prince Andrew’s visit is part of a six-nation Caribbean tour which includes St Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Guyana.
During his visit to TT, the Duke will visit several British energy companies operating in the country in his capacity as the Britain’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. Prince Andrew has held this post since October 2001 and undertakes “a wide range of official activities, including visits overseas in support of the UK market, sector and inward investment priorities; leading trade missions and conducting business-focused tours in the UK regions.” The Duke will also meet President George Maxwell Richards, Tobago House of Assembly representatives, representatives of environmental organisations supported by the British High Commission and visit local community projects geared toward helping disadvantaged youths.
