Prices fall for students at ‘Champs’
PRICES have been dropped for students, their parents and teachers attending Champs in Concert at the Queen’s Park Savannah tonight. Pan Trinbago’s education officer Denise Hernandez said: “We want to encourage the youths to come out and support their peers, the winners of the junior Panorama competitions — bp Renegades Youth and St Margaret Boys’ Anglican School.” To this end, tickets at special rates are available to students at $10, while teachers and parents will pay half the normal price, or $30 dollars each.
However, this special offer applies to the North Stand only. Champs in Concert, a production of Pan Trinbago, will feature the major winners in this year’s Carnival. It marks the 24th edition and is in tribute to past Pan Trinbago president, the late Arnim Smith. In addition to the junior Panorama winners, other champions on show include the national King and Queen of Carnival, Panorama conventional and single pan winners, soca monarch, calypso monarch and road march champion. Calypsonians Black Stalin and Valentino will be guest artistes. Showtime is 8 pm.
Tickets are available at regular ticket outlets and from 9 am at the Queen’s Park Savannah today. Meanwhile, due to a mix-up in communications, masqueraders attached to Rosary Boys’ RC School band “The Wet Lands,” winner in the school band category, will not be participating in Champs in Concert.
