Girl, 2, shot in Morvant

INVESTIGATORS remained mystified as to the circumstances under which Morvant tiny tot Zeniah John was shot while asleep on Tuesday night. According to information, around 11 pm, Lawson Powell and his common law wife Yianka John were asleep at their Cipriani Avenue, Second Caledonia, Morvant, home when they heard three loud explosions.


They investigated and saw their daughter Zeniah , two, lying on her bed in a pool of blood crying in pain with a bullet wound to her left leg. She was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Complex where she was treated and discharged. When contacted police told Newsday they had no clues because no one saw anything or could say if she was shot through a window or from inside the house. Constable James of the Morvant police Station is Investigating.
