Well-dressed bandit shoots taxi-driver
A TAXI-DRIVER was ambushed and shot three times before being robbed of his car by three men, one of whom was dressed in a shirt and tie, after he stopped to make purchases at a Couva bar on Sunday night. Police said shooting victim Ramdath Ramkissoon, 42, of Cottage Road, Mc Bean Village, underwent emergency surgery and remains warded in serious condition at San Fernando General Hospital. Police reports stated that Ramkissoon was attacked by three men armed with guns and cutlasses as he alighted from his vehicle in front Savannah Bar at Mc Bean Village around 8.30 pm.
One of the men was dressed in a white shirt and a black tie. Ramkissoon put up a struggle and was shot twice in the left leg and once in the right palm. His assailants then escaped by driving off in his car while Ramkissoon slumped to the pavement. He was taken to Couva District Hospital where he was treated and transferred to San Fernando General Hospital. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made and Couva police are continuing investigations.
