WASA plans to boost Point Fortin water
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) yesterday said it regretted that the multi-million dollar fire in Point Fortin occurred outside of the scheduled water supply time to the Borough. However, the utility said it was working to improve the water supply in the area by drilling two replacement wells within the next six months, and also working to “take over” the Petrotrin facility.
In a statement, WASA said it currently supplied the Borough with a limited pipe borne water supply from its Chatham Waterworks. Water is supplied during the hours of 10 pm to 5 am from Monday to Saturday. It said areas like Techier, Mahaica, Clifton Hill and Harriman Park, as well as other parts of Point Fortin are supplied by the Petrotrin facilities, which are owned and operated by Petrotrin.
