Police seek permission to march

POLICE OFFICERS have sought permission from Police Commissioner Everald Snaggs to stage a protest march on Monday to voice numerous concerns affecting them. These concerns include new terms and conditions of service, salary increases for Special Reserve Police officers and better working conditions. President of the Police Second Welfare Services Division, ag Insp Christopher Holder, said the march will be staged outside the offices of the National Security Ministry and the Chief Personnel Officer.  National Security Minister Martin Joseph said he was unaware of the planned protest. He appealed to the officers for patience, stating that their concerns were being addressed. Lawmen last staged such a demonstration in 1993 during the first PNM administration of Prime Minister Patrick Manning.
