Shortage of pharmacists in Tobago
A SHORTAGE of pharmacists throughout Tobago has added to the already lengthy waiting period at the Scarborough Regional Hospital’s pharmacy. Many patients now have to go to Scarborough to fill prescriptions as several district health centres are without pharmacists. A spokesperson for the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) Board told Newsday the problem has been made worse by the retirement of some pharmacists. The spokesperson said the TRHA was working to fill the vacancies but there were certain procedures to be followed and funds have to be sourced for wages.
