Villagers save house after sex toy catches fire
MORUGA villagers prevented a house from being burnt to the ground when they formed a bucket brigade and doused a burning bed and mattress after an electronic vibrator (sex toy) overheated and caught fire on Tuesday. Neighbours were alerted to the fire when they saw smoke coming from the house and quickly swung into action, forming a bucket brigade and bringing the flames under control. According to reports, the female occupant of the house secured her home on Tuesday morning and went away.
Around 3.23 pm, neighbours started smelling smoke and on investigating, saw smoke billowing from a window at the house. By the time the Fire Department responded, the villagers had already doused the flames. Investigators who searched the bedroom, reportedly found the partially burnt toy still connected to an electrical wall plug, which led them to suspect the toy may have overheated and sparks ignited the mattress. Damage was estimated at $4,600, inclusive of the mattress which cost $1,400, the bed which was valued at $3,000 and the $200 toy.
