5 held for Aleong’s murder
Police have detained five suspects in the murder of businessman Christopher Aleong. Aleong was shot dead while driving his car out of the driveway of his Petit Valley home on the morning of December 2 last year. Homicide sources revealed that the suspects were held between Thursday and yesterday. One of the suspects reportedly gave a confession statement to officers, and he is expected to be used as a witness for the police. Newsday learnt that Director of Public Prosecutions, Geoffrey Henderson, will be consulted today on the charge of murder against the suspects.
When Aleong was killed police ruled out robbery as a motive because a fully loaded Smith and Wesson gun belonging to Aleong was left in his car. Money and jewelry found on Aleong’s body remained intact. Aleong was the owner of Kam Wah Restaurant, Mac Foods and Albrosco Ltd. The investigation was spearheaded by Snr Supt Dyo Mohammed, head of Hom-icide.
