Plane damaged by water truck

Flights out of Piarco yesterday morning were at a standstill after a watertruck had damaged the fuselage of a BWIA aitrcraft — Flight 414 — which was due to fly out to Barbados and Jamaica. At the time of the incident, the water truck  was supplying water to the aircraft when it slammed into the fuselage. The incident occurred just prior to an exhibition on “Health and Safety” was launched by the Airports Authority. Passengers scheduled to fly out on that aircraft had to be transferred to another aircraft. At the time of the incident there was no one on board the plane, hence there was no report of injury to anyone. Airports Authority official Allan Lewis said a detailed investigation will be launched into the incident. But while there was no reports of injury, a BWIA official said the damage to the aircraft would run into hundreds of thousands of dollars.
