Men found burying gun, ammo

Three Cedros men are to appear in court tomorrow charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of a shot gun and possession of ammunition after they were arrested while digging a hole in which it is believed they were going to bury the items. The men were arrested after being kept under surveillance by a team of police officers from the Point Fortin and Siparia police stations.

According to reports, around 7 pm Friday police observed the three men digging a hole in bushes off the main road at Coromandel Village, Cedros. The team of police officers approached the men and reportedly found them in possession of a shot gun and 36 rounds of ammunition. The men, ages 26, 29 and 38, all from Coromandel Village, Cedros, were also discovered with 1.99 kgs of marijuana contained in two bags. They were arrested and taken to the Point Fortin police station. The police exercise was led by Insp Wells along  with Sgt Mohammed and included Cpl Oliver, and PC Sookraj. The three men were charged by Cpl Oliver.
