Stolen bull saved from slaughter

Officers of the Chaguanas CID yesterday seized a stolen bull from the abattoir in Chaguanas. Reports revealed that Eniath Ali of Martin Trace in El Socorro secured his black and white bull in a pasture adjacent to his home and left. The next day he discovered the bull valued $7,000 missing. Yesterday, Ali received information that the bull was at the abattoir in Chaguanas. He went to the Chaguanas CID and informed Insp Hubert Kirk, acting Sgt Ajith Persad, Cpl Salick and PC Sheppard about the stolen bull. Officers went to the abattoir where they saw the bull about to be slaughtered.

The officers learnt that the bull had already been checked by a vet and clearance was given for the slaughter. The bull was seized and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station. It was later handed over to officers of the Barataria Police Station and arrests are imminent. A relieved Ali said yesterday that he had the bull for the past five years and was relieved to be re-united with the animal. He was high in praise for the quick response of the police, which prevented the slaughter of his bull.
