Fireman killed in accident
A DAY after confiding his problems to his mother, fireman Albert Jules was killed when his car crashed into a bridge in Claxton Bay, Wednesday. Jules, 51, a father of four from Mary Street, Lisa Boulevard in Couva, was pronounced dead on arrival at San Fernando General Hospital. Describing Jules as a loving person, brother Dexter said the fireman was going through a divorce after being married for 20 years. Dexter said on Tuesday, Jules told their mother about the “emotional” problems he was experiencing. “I don’t know what he told my mother, but she prayed for him,” Dexter said. He said he did not know what state of mind his brother was in when his car ran off the road.
He said Jules, who was attached to the Chaguanas Fire Station, had 24 years service and planned to retire in two years. According to police reports, around 5.10 pm, Jules was proceeding along the Southern Main Road in his blue 323 Mazda. Upon reaching Teak Road, he lost control of the vehicle which ran off the road and crashed into a bridge. A fire services ambulance rushed him to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Sgt Mohammed of the St Margaret’s Police Station visited the scene and is continuing investigations. An autopsy was scheduled to be carried out yesterday.
