Murder suspect arrested in police exercise
A murder suspect was one of 17 persons arrested in a Northeastern Division exercise yesterday. According to reports, officers of the San Juan, Santa Cruz and Morvant police stations, along with the North Eastern Task Force, arrested 17 persons in the various areas between the hours of 1.30 am and 7.30 am. One was held for possession of two kilogrammes of marijuana, one for the murder of Servol student Esza Matthew, 20, who was gunned down on April 15 at Garrick Street in Barataria, and 13 for other criminal offences. The persons charged with lesser crimes appeared before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate yesterday, while the rest will appear on Monday.
