Manning and Panday to meet tomorrow

Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday will meet at the Prime Minister’s residence at 11 am tomorrow to discuss the Police Reform Bills. Panday said yesterday he had no criticism of the statements made by head of the Technical Team responsible for drafting the Police Reform Bills, Sir Ellis Clarke. “No criticisms at all, only gratitude. And the country must be grateful to them for the job they have done,” Panday said. He thanked Sir Ellis Clarke and his team for the work they had done. Asked if he was ready for the debate, Panday said: “Is a bullfighter ever not ready for the bull?” He said the UNC would be coming up with suggestions in the hope of “saving the bill.” Asked whether the UNC had in 2001, all the problems it now has with the bills, Panday stated: “The only person who doesn’t change their mind is a dead person.”
