New road replaces Santa Cruz ‘tunnel’
WORKS AND Transport Minister Franklyn Khan yesterday officially launched two developmental projects at Saddle Road, Maraval valued at $0.8 million. The projects are the enhancement of the Cangrehal Bridge and the widening of the “tunnel” linking Saddle Road, Maraval to the North Coast via Santa Cruz. In his feature address, Khan explained that rehabilitation work on the Cangrehal Bridge began on April 26, with a projected completion date of mid-July and a budget of $300,000. He noted that the project was in its tenth week, with minor works to be completed and had a present cost of approximately $200,000. Khan also explained that the project to widen the “tunnel” between Maraval and Santa Cruz began on June 1 and was completed “within the month and within the budget of $500,000.”
