Two shot in $5 party

ONE man has been treated and discharged, while another remains hospitalised after they were shot in a $5 fund-raising party. According to information around 11.45 pm a party held at a carwash on St John Road, St Augustine turned into mayhem when two members of rival groups got into a tussle and one of the men whipped out a gun and discharged two bullets in the crowd hitting the two men in their 20s causing a mad scramble. Passersby and other partygoers had to seek shelter in nearby houses. The unlicensed party neither received the blessings of the court, the police or the EMA.

The police were contacted and Ag Cpl Alert Groomes and Constable Maxwell Bain responded and saw a man, 22, running away. The man was challenged and when caught a loaded firearm was found on his persons. He was arrested and taken to the St Joseph Police Station where a charge of possession of arms and ammunition is to be preferred against him, followed by other charges when the shot man is discharged and can make a report.
Constable Bain is continuing enquiries.
