Robbie chips in with $76,000
Former President of Trinidad and Tobago, Arthur NR Robinson, is the first patron and benefactor to contribute $76,000 towards the San Fernando Business Association’s Arthur NR Robinson Poverty Eradication Fund. Through Robinson’s initiative, the San Fernando Business Association (SBA) was entrusted with the responsibility to establish, develop and administer the fund. It will be launched at the Hilton Trinidad Ballroom on Saturday at 4 pm.
In addition, Robinson will also be celebrating the publication of his recent book entitled Presidential Papers and Other Essays. The fund’s objective is to join in the effort for the alleviation and eradication of poverty in the country. Among its lines of action are the education and training of young men and women in established educational institutions; parenting education; to conduct seminars and workshops on values, education and spirituality for empowering the youths; to assist the poor who are in institutions and cannot afford to continue with their education. It will also conduct training programmes in literacy and numeracy; to conduct programmes on lifestyle education to address the epidemic of HIV/AIDS and other similar problems in the society, and to conduct programmes that will help to keep the youth away from drugs and violence and empower them for the work environment.
