St Finbar’s girls advised: ‘Education key to success’

“YES YOU Can” was the theme of the graduation ceremony for St Finbar Girls’ RC School on Wednesday at the Arouca Community Centre. In keeping with the theme, keynote speaker Gloria Morris reminded the graduates repeatedly that they indeed were able to achieve any goal to which they set their hearts. The graduates also got some sound advice from past pupil Laurette Bistol, who told them: “This world we live in is so beautiful, however it can be cruel, so keep in mind the traditions, morals and values that were instilled in you, for this is what will keep you strong and your head upright. Remember that in everything you do have fun and do not forget to laugh.”

Guests at the event included PTA representative Veronica Abraham and James Solomon of the Ministry of Education. Principal Sheila Warner urged the girls to keep in mind all the sentiments and good wishes expressed. “Always remember that education is the key to success. The type of friends you choose can help determine whether you will be a success or a failure, so choose them wisely.” Valedictorian Leteesha Griffith reminisced about her life at St Finbar’s and encouraged them to become exemplars and great contributors to our society. Nikeisha Dhanpat got the Past Pupils Award, while Korin Buckmire, Tiffany Jules, Ashley Bobb and Latyfah Hamilton received awards for being All Round Students.
