Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a car early yesterday morning. Police are now searching for the driver of the car, who ran off after the accident. Garvin Joseph, 37, better known as “Super” of Lp 32, Maraj Street, Robinson Road, Montrose, Chaguanas died instantly around 3.25 am when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction. According to reports Joseph was returning from a “lime,” when on reaching the “triangle” at Old Southern Main Road, Chase Village, he went the wrong way on a one-way street and collided with the car.

Joseph, a mechanic at the Public Transport Service Corporation of PoS, was thrown into the air and died on impact. When Sunday Newsday visited the Maraj Street home where friends were preparing to build a bamboo shed for his wake, his older brother Gary Joseph explained: “We were liming and cooking  at a friend’s home in Montrose, when Super left to go by his girlfriend. “He returned a short while after and said they had a quarrel and that he was going by a friend at Chase Village. Then the next thing I heard he write off a car and is dead. “Super was a beautiful man who loved his bikes and always said that he wanted a job to fix them so he got one as a mechanic. “Now he died while riding what he loved.” Police believe the car which collided with Joseph was stolen. PC Radhay Kissoon is continuing enquiries.
