Grieving mom thanks South doctors, nurses
AMID numerous complaints about poor health care at the nation’s hospitals, a woman visited Newsday’s South Bureau yesterday singing praises for the staff at San Fernando General Hospital for the care administered to her son, who died last Saturday. “I want to thank the nurses and doctors at Wards nine, ten (D) and 11, for trying their best with my son,” Annmarie Rojas said yesterday. She told Newsday her son Zico Dave Moore, 21, was warded at the hospital since the start of this year until his death. Wiping away tears, Rojas explained that several medical complications led to her son’s passing, but said he received the best care from nurses and doctors at the southern hospital.
“I want to also thank those who attended his funeral and supported us in our time of grief,” Rojas added. Within the past week, the San Fernando General Hospital has faced a near shut down of its operating theatres after a dispute between doctors and nurses of the sugical department, which saw nurses staying away from work. Health Minister John Rahael yesterday assured that “all was back to normal” at the hospital after nurses resumed duties.
