Brain surgery for cop hit by car

POLICE CONSTABLE Sayeed Rosan underwent brain surgery at San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) while Corporal Rai Ramrattan was discharged yesterday after both policemen were knocked down on the road by a car in Ste Madeleine Thursday night. Both policemen were standing on the roadside speaking to the driver of a vehicle, when another car drove by, knocking down both Rosan and Ramrattan. According to police reports, Rosan and Ramrattan left the Ste Madeleine Police Station to investigate a report of threats made to a resident at nearby St Charles Village, around 9.30 pm.

Rosan and Ramrattan, according to the report, pursued a van in which two men, who allegedly made the threats, were travelling. The report stated that Rosan and Ramrattan, in an E-999 vehicle, caught up with the van close to the Usine Ste Madeleine Road pond. While standing on the road speaking to the occupants of the van, the report stated, a Honda Civic drove by on the same side of the road, hitting the two officers.
