New AIDS hotline is 800-4HIV

The National AIDS Hotline of Trinidad and Tobago has introduced a new toll-free number. The hotline, which is a voluntary organisation, has been in existence since December 1988 and has serviced approximately 30,000 people. The new toll-free number is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and JB Fernandes Memorial Trust of the Rockefeller Foundation. The hotline will continue to provide a highly confidential service, and attempt to decrease the incidence of HIV through counselling sessions. The new hotline is 800-4448 (4HIV). The original numbers, 625-2437 and 625-0646, remain open to the public.
