Student injured in COSTAATT fracas
A FEMALE COSTAATT student is nursing an injured right hand and is in severe pain after an assault on her by a male classmate at the school’s Mt Hope campus last Thursday evening. She received the injury and several blows to her face during a scuffle with a much older classmate moments after the two had an argument. The mother of a one-year-old boy said while attempting to clear up an issue with her photography lecturer, the man intervened. She informed him that the issue was between her and the lecturer and a heated argument ensued, with the man referring to her as “an ignorant idiot.” Directing some expletives at him, the youth eventually left the classroom and summoned an administrative officer to settle the issue between her and the lecturer.
After consulting with the young lady and the tutor, the administrative officer then had a private conference with both students. According to eyewitness reports, during that meeting, the young woman pointed her finger in her classmate’s face and he held on to her hand, pushed her against a wall and dealt her several blows to the face. When the other students in the class realised what was going on, they immediately rushed to her assistance. The lecturer just sat at his desk and did nothing. The injured woman left the area and used her cell phone to call her mother, who arrived about 30 minutes later. Meanwhile, the man was shuttled away from the campus by one of his female friends. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
