Arima man spiked to death

A 35-year-old La Horquetta man was spiked to death when he fell on a fence with iron ornamental spikes in Chaguanas on Saturday night. According to police sources, around 7.45 pm Alfonso Alexander, of Phase 5, La Horquetta, Arima, lost his balance while standing on a scaffolding, which was secured on the tray of a truck at Stone’s Bar, Main Road, Longdenville, Chaguanas.

Alexander was putting up posters when he lost his balance and fell onto the ornamental spikes, placed on top of the iron fencing. Alexander died although doctors feverishly attended to him at the Chaguanas Health Facility. The District Medical Officer ordered the body’s removal to the Port-of-Spain mortuary where an autopsy will be carried out tomorrow to determine cause of death. Officers of the Chaguanas Police Station are continuing investigations.
