$3.7M new desks, chairs for schools

Some 42 schools across the country are sharing in $3.7 million worth of furniture as part of their upgrade for the reopening of school on August 30. A statement yesterday from the Ministry of Education said these new supplies included pupil and teacher desks, chairs, cupboards and filing cabinets. Last Friday, said the Ministry, it had delivered to ASJA Girls College in Charlieville some 200 pupil desks and 42 teacher desks, with accompanying chairs. The statement quoted school principal, Zorisha Mohammed-Ali, as being pleased with the ministry’s early delivery, in time for the expansion of the school’s enrolment from 709 to 909 pupils in the new term.  Suppliers to the schools include Metal Designs and Concepts, Caribbean Sheet and Steel Tabular Industries, DS Chairs and Furniture, E Williams Supplies and Services, and Albert Peters Woodwork Industries.
