Mom, son held with gun and drugs

A 54-YEAR-OLD woman and her 25-year-old son were arrested at their Cunupia home yesterday by police who, during a search, allegedly found and seized a .38 special revolver, five live rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cocaine and marijuana. Both of them are expected before a Chaguanas magistrate today to face charges of possession of arms, ammunition and illegal drugs.

According to police reports, around 8.10 am, PC Simeon Guelmo executed a search warrant at a house on Railway Road, Cunupia, where the gun, ammunition and drugs were found. In an unrelated incident also in Central Trinidad, officers of the Joint Police/Army patrol, while on enquiries at Bhagaloo Trace, Enterprise around 4.30 am yesterday, observed two men acting in a suspicious manner. The men were challenged by the police who found a .380 pistol, 16 rounds of ammunition and 42 grammes of marijuana. The men, both 29, were arrested. They were wanted for a series of robberies and outstanding warrants in Central. PC Maraj laid the charges against the two men.
