Airports under tight security

AS of early yesterday afternoon, both the Crown Point Airport in Tobago and the Piarco International Airport were put on heightened security alert as a result of threats received earlier in the day. Manager of corporate communications of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, Ellen Lewis-Adamson, confirmed the heightened security.

While being guarded on the information she provided, she noted, “The AATT  received information of non-specific threats and as a consequence the authority heightened security levels at both Crown Point and Piarco International Airports as a precautionary measure.” While refusing to say what time or what was the nature of threats received, or what measures were actually put in place, Adamson said the present situation would continue until the AATT holds the view that the situation has abated.
