Central cops seize gun, ammo and drugs

A .38 revolver with four rounds of ammunition and a quantity of drugs were seized, and five persons held during an exercise in Central Division yesterday. The exercise, coordinated and led by Crime Insp Hubert Kirk, Sgts Lumy, Sylvester, acting Sgts Ajith Persad and Hayden Mckenzie, started at 2 am and ended at 3 pm. Officers seized a quantity of cocaine and marijuana at a house in Felicity, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 28-year-old man.

Acting on a tip-off, the same officers searched a 30-year-old man and seized a .38 revolver with four rounds of ammunition at Trial Street in Chaguanas. It was the fourth gun seized between Sunday and yesterday in Central Division. Police believe the gun was used in several robberies in Central. Officers later went to IDC Street in Chaguanas, where they found kidnap victim Mathura Guness. Suffering from two chop wounds to the head, Guness was taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre. He was then interviewed by AKS officers.
