WASA gets $$ for NSDP projects
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has received $22 million as part of the final tranche for completion of work under the National Social Development Programme (NSDP). The NSDP is an initiative of the Prime Minister aimed at bringing relief to deprived and underprivileged communities by providing and/or improving the supply of water, street lighting and electrification to communities, residences and community facilities.
The WASA component of NSDP is aimed at improving the water supply throughout Trinidad and Tobago, particularly bringing relief where the level of service is less than 48 hours per week and in areas where there is no supply. It is expected that areas serviced by the programme will enjoy a water supply that is between class three (about 84 hours per week) and class one (continuous).
