Court did not give Noel Chag land
A report by Augustine Noel of Chaguaramas that the court had on August 13 2004 ordered he be allowed to occupy several acres of land belonging to the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) was inaccurate. Port-of-Spain Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor had dismissed a charge brought by the CDA against Noel, accusing him of illegally occupying lands belonging to the CDA at Airways Road in Chaguaramas. The CDA failed to prosecute the matter and the magistrate dismissed the charge against Noel. The magistrate did not order that he be allowed to occupy the lands as reported. CDA’s attorney Martin George told Newsday he has since received instructions from the CDA to take High Court action to eject Noel from his illegal occupation of the land.
