Girl’s relatives blank double cremation
Relatives of Kimberly Stephanie Boodram-Narinesingh, the 11-year-old girl found dead at Toco on Monday, turned down a request by suicide victim Jairam Baldeo’s relatives for a double cremation. Instead, Stephanie was cremated at the Waterloo Cremation Site and Baldeo at Caroni. Stephanie’s angry relatives said yesterday they found it amazing that the relatives of Baldeo “had the guts to make such a request, especially when an innocent life was taken away.” Stephanie’s coffin remained closed during the funeral service at El Socorro, and her picture was placed on the coffin.
Prayers were recited during the service by Pundit Annand Maharaj of Tacarigua, and Hindu rituals were performed during the brief service. The bodies of Stephanie and Baldeo were found in Toco on Monday. Stephanie went missing on Saturday, and a report was made to the Barataria police. Relatives of the dead girl are insisting she was abducted, sexually molested and then murdered. Investigations are continuing into the two deaths.
