Govt to build temporary facility for Penal students

With the school term set to begin today students of the Penal Rock Road Hindu School, which was razed by fire on Friday, have been promised temporary accommodation by the Ministry of Education. Representatives of the Ministry of Education visited the site Saturday  along with officials of the National School Board and the school’s principal Betty Ramnarine. Communication officer at the Ministry of Education, Mervyn Crichlow, said, “We have decided to construct a temporary structure to accommodate the school’s 138 students. This structure should be ready by September sixth at latest.” Crichlow also offered the assurance that the school would be furnished with desks, chairs and other necessary infrastructure. Police attached to the Penal police Station are continuing investigations into the cause of the costly blaze.
