Bandits tie up guard and escape with four cars

Four men armed with guns stormed into Japanese Motor Sales Limited, at the Uriah Butler Highway, held up the security Norwin Mclean, 23, beat him up and then robbed the used car place of four vehicles valued $378,000. Reports revealed that around 1 am, Mclean was carrying out guard duties, when four men armed with guns entered the business place and ordered the guard to lie on the ground. He was beaten, tied up and duct tape was stuffed in his mouth. He was then locked up in a room.

The four men then stole a Corolla, a Galant, an Almera and a B-15 motor car. The guard managed to untie himself and reported the matter to the Chaguanas CID. Officers led by Ag Sgt Ajith Persad and included PCs Kirk Sheppard and Joseph went to the scene and carried out inquiries. An All Points Bulletin was sent out to all police divisions and the St Joseph Police recovered the Toyota Corolla at Bamboo Settlement. Police investigators believe that they may be able to solve the larceny of the four vehicles. They are working on several leads and believe that they will make a breakthrough in the investigation. Officers of the Chaguanas CID are investigating.
