Five charged with possession of gun

FIVE men held by members of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) on Monday night will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. At around 8.30 pm, IATF officers were on patrol along Quarry Street, Laventillle, when they had cause to stop and search a car in which three men were travelling. They found a 380 special revolver with two live rounds inside the vehicle.

The men, ages 22 to 27, were taken to their homes on Quarry Street where 20 more rounds of ammunition were found. Two other persons were arrested. The five were taken to Besson Street Police Station where they were charged. Ag Inspector Housen of the IATF headed the team of officers.
