Reba: It’s better to make sacrifices now
St Augustine Girls’ High School’s Reba Granado placed fifth in the world in Spanish but will be pursuing her childhood dream of becoming an attorney-at-law. Regarding her exam performance the modest teen said, “When I left the examination room I most definitely didn’t think that I had done this well. I was a bit disappointed actually because there were a few things that I thought I could have done better in so it was a huge surprise to know that I had placed fifth in the world.”
Granado told Sunday Newsday that Spanish has always been her favourite subject through the years saying that she has a special knack for it and finds it to be a lot of fun. “I’m actually going to the University of Southhampton where I would be studying law. I just grew up wanting to do law.
“However my ability in foreign languages would help me because I plan to branch off into International Relations to get an International perspective on the law,” declared the aspiring attorney. Granado offered a bit of advice for persons who aim for success in academics. “Surround yourself with people who are serious about their studies. That makes it much easier to focus. It’s better to make the sacrifices now than to wait for your results to come out and then wish that you had worked harder.”
