Woman’s gold chain snatched from neck

SIPARIA police are searching for a bandit who snatched $2,700 in jewelry from a woman on Sunday. According to police reports, Carolyn Ramjit, 32, was walking along High Street Siparia around 1 am, when a man dressed in a blue jersey and three-quarter pants confronted her. Ramjit told police the bandit snatched her gold chain from around her neck and a gold ring and ran away. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

In an unrelated incident, a mason carrying out repairs at a Siparia primary school reported that his electric saw was stolen. Junior Buntin, 42, of Kelly Khan Contracting, told police he left his circular saw valued $1,700 on the compound of St Bridget’s Girls’ RC School around 2.45 pm on Saturday. When he returned the next morning at eight o’ clock, the saw was missing. Police said burglars cut open some wire mesh on the western side of the building to steal the saw. Siparia police are continuing investigations.
