Ivan takes bite on crime
CRIME took a major nose dive yesterday with almost nil reports in all divisions. With the heads of divisions all pointing to the anticipated Hurricane Ivan, now downgraded to a tropical storm as the main cause. When contacted head of divisions from the Port-of-Spain to Eastern Division to South-Western division told Newsday while there have been one or two negligible small offences, there were no major incidents.
“Except for a arson in the east and one or two marijuana cigarette seized in the west, there was nothing. Criminals virtually took a day of from crime and stayed in door.” There was all day bulletins by the National Emergency Management Agency and officials of the Ministry of National Security warning citizens to stay inside pending the outcome of the storm.
