Mother of three stabbed to death

A 32-year-old mother of three was fatally stabbed  by a jealous lover, who had accused her of being unfaithful. Reports revealed that around 3.30 am yesterday, Kathyann Glassgow, of Beggs Street in Toco, was liming at Palm Street Junction with friends, when she had an argument with her common-law husband. An eyewitness claimed that the enraged man pulled out a knife from his pocket and dealt Glassgow several stab wounds to the chest, causing her to slump to the ground. She died a few minutes later.

The suspect has since fled the scene and a search launched by the police, up to press time, has proved futile. Glassgow graduated from YTEPP in Embroidery on Saturday at the Sangre Grande Community Centre. She had stopped off at Palm Street Junction to lime with friends when she was killed, police said. An eyewitness claimed that around 9 pm, Glassgow was first confronted by a man who accused her of being unfaithful. A heated argument then took place but Glassgow continued liming with friends after the suspect left the scene with a friend. Ishmael Phillip, a friend of the suspect, said the suspect spoke with him and said he was unhappy because he felt that Glassgow had been unfaithful. He confided in Phillip that he had already bought schoolbooks for Glassgow’s three children, whom she had from her first marriage. The suspect told Phillip he was not interested in any trouble, and assured him that he had no evil intentions.

Phillip expressed shock that Glassgow was killed. Ebony Tobias, mother of the murder victim, said her daughter was a good person and a good mother. She added that Glassgow was a talented person and was very ambitious. She dismissed claims by the suspect that Glassgow was unfaithful. Glassgow  worked at Mookmin’s Boutique and was a community-oriented person. District Medical Officer Dr Roxanne Tanteco and Snr Supt Bastien, ASP Copeland, Insps Edmund Thomas, Anthony Andrew, Sgts Fermin Roy and Heeralal Choon visited the scene. Also visiting the scene were Cpls Beverly Paul, and Anthony Wight and PCs Kevin Charles, Steve Soopadale, Ramesh Deosaran and Gilmore Thomas. Cpl Wight is investigating.
