Shooting file sent back to CoP

FOR the second time since an investigation began to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of La Brea resident Don King by a police officer, the file on the investigations will be sent to Commissioner of Police (CoP) Trevor Paul for review. Police sources said lead investigator ASP Valdez, initially sent the file to CoP Paul, who handed it over to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Geoffrey Henderson. After perusing the file, the DPP sent it back to the police for further investigations.

The deadline for re-submitting the file is today. King, of Chin Fong Road, Sobo Village, La Brea, was killed in a fete near the Pitch Lake during a confrontation with police and a group of patrons, last month. Police reports said King was shot after he attempted to stab an officer. An autopsy showed the bullet which killed King struck him in the back, punctured his heart, and exited through the front. Death was almost instantaneous. The officer who shot and killed King remains on duty even as investigations against him continue.
